The
introduction of the Kapurthala is a major step to showcase the
best of Punjabi cultural heritage. It also aims to generate tourism
in this part of Punjab. Kapurthala reflect the religious, moral,
social and patriotic value of the people in Fairs and Festivals.

kapurthala also has a rich Musical tradation. Kapurthala, which
was once known as the Paris of Orient also has a legacy in Classical
music. It emerged as an important centre for classical music especially
under the patronage of Kanwar Bikrama Singh and Raja Sir Daljit
Singh. Saeen Ilyas, Ata Mohammad and Bhai Lal were well known
as exponents of the Kapurthala Gharana. Mir Nasir Ahmad a descendant
of Milan Tansen was rescued from beingh sent into exile by the
Mughal Court and was brought by Kanwar Bikrama Singh to Kapurthala
where he lived for the rest of his life. He and his son Mir Rehmat
Ali contributed greatly to the Rababi-Beenkar tradation of Kapurthala.
These
Festivals Conducted by the Punjab Government, the Indian National
Trust for Art and Cultural Heritage ( INTACH) and the kapurthala
Heritage Trust, the three day festival is an annual event. It
is named the 'Baba Jassa Singh Festival of Classical Music' in
honour of the founder of Kapurthala.
Luminaries
from the world of art, dance, drama and music participate in this
cultural extravaganza and enthrall audiences who flock to kapurthala
during the days of the festival. Local residents get opportunity
to witness world-class performances by living legends such as
Pandit Jasraj, the Wadali Brothers, Pandit Birju Maharaj and Hari
Prasad Chaurasia among others.

partake of this cultural feast and to also sample the food of
the region which is a delicious mix of several cuisines like Amritsari,
